A Christmas to Remember in Jefferson, NC
Who doesn’t love some Christmas news in February?
This past December, what began as a community effort to donate heaters as the temperature dropped in the Western North Carolina mountains became something so much bigger—a Christmas celebration that brought joy to Jefferson, NC.
Jefferson is a mountain town still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Helene. In times of hardship, one of the most powerful gifts we can offer is the assurance that no one is forgotten—that they are loved and cared for. So, in the midst of the chaos of rebuilding their community, a group of people came together to bring warmth, both physically and emotionally, to a community in need.
On the day of the event at Mount Paddy Church, nearly 450 hot meals were served, 1,000+ toys were given out, and over 200 coats and blankets found new homes. Families gathered around warming stations, kids played on inflatables, made crafts, and took pictures with Santa. And, of course, they got a big ol’ hug from the Grinch—so sweet!
Anthony Treadwell, who led the charge in making this Christmas celebration happen, shared that this event was a much-needed bright spot, saying:
"You can't count nor put a price tag on the smiling faces we all witnessed."
This event wouldn’t have been possible without:
❤️ Anthony & Kira from West Virginia
❤️ KC, Cierra, & The Motherboard Nonprofit
❤️ Jason & Mount Paddy Church
❤️ Jeremy from Hatchet West Coffee
❤️ Kristin with Kristin’s Hook’d on Smoke Food Truck
❤️ And the many volunteers from West Virginia & Conduit Carolinas
Because of your hearts of generosity, the families of Jefferson, NC, were able to give their children gifts during one of the hardest seasons of their lives. You all are a testament to what happens when we live out the love of Jesus by taking care of our neighbors.
Thank you Abigail with Mite.org for writing this up for our team!
